How to Store Aroma Bottles Discreetly (and Safely) at Home
Share
Your bottle doesn't need to be a conversation starter. Whether you've got roommates, guests staying over or family visiting for the holidays, a little planning keeps it private, keeps it safe, and keeps it fresh.
Discreet doesn't mean careless
The best hiding spot is also a safe spot: cool, dark, upright, closed, and out of reach of kids and pets. A bottle shoved loose in the back of a drawer is how leaks and accidents happen.
Good places to keep it
- A small lidded box in a drawer. A plain storage box, a toiletry case or a watch box keeps it upright and out of sight.
- The fridge, in a zip bag. Many people keep sealed bottles in the fridge to slow them down. A zip bag or an opaque container keeps it private and contains any smell. Let it warm to room temperature before opening so moisture doesn't condense inside.
- A lockable drawer or box if there are kids in the home or regular visitors. This is the safest option of all.
Places to avoid
- The nightstand top. Easy to knock over, easy to spot, and kids and pets can reach it.
- Bathroom cabinets. Steam and heat aren't kind to it, and guests open bathroom cabinets.
- Windowsills and anywhere sunny or warm. Heat and light make it go flat faster.
- Anywhere it could be mistaken for something drinkable. Never store it in a drink bottle or a food container.
Keep the smell contained
Smell is usually what gives a bottle away. If you can smell it in the drawer, the cap isn't sealing. An airtight cap, plus a zip bag or lidded box, means nothing escapes.
Where Beakr comes in

Beakr is a leakproof top that permanently replaces your bottle's cap. It seals airtight when it's shut, so the smell stays in, and it opens with one hand, so there's no cap to leave lying around. Black Caviar is the most low-key color if discretion is the goal. See all five colors.
More on keeping it fresh: why your bottle loses its kick.
Safety basics
- Never swallow aroma liquids, and keep them off your skin and away from your eyes.
- Never combine them with erection medications like Viagra or Cialis. The combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
- Keep bottles away from flames, heat, kids and pets.
- If someone swallows it or feels faint, short of breath or has chest pain, get medical help right away.
Beakr is a cap accessory. The bottle is not included.
